There's an ocean of money saving apps available in the Android marketplace. If you want coupons; there's an app for you. If you want daily money saving tips; there's an app for them as well. But what about something that can handle your monthly budgets? If, like me, you track your finances using a notepad... It's time to join the 21st century and let one of the Android's budgeting apps ease the burden.
Admittedly, there are other options; for the more technically savvy there's the spreadsheet option. If you're a deft hand at creating spreadsheet formula's then you'll have a fully fledged budget tracking doc up and running in no time. But what about those of us that have difficulty opening MS Office or Open Office let alone having the know how to build a doc that can churn out your financial history in the blink of an eye?
Here are 3 of the most highly rated budgeting apps for the Android:EasyMoney
Simple to use with a range of features, EasyMoney lets you track personal, business and travel finances. Some of the more intelligent features of this app include automated creation of graphs. Personally, I find a graphical display that shows me how much money I don't have far easier to understand.
Other useful features of EasyMoney include the ability to export your budgeting data in quicken and csv format. You can also set up reminders for scheduled payments and, if you lose your phone, EasyMoney can be locked with its own independent, 4 digit pin.
More recently, EasyMoney was featured in LifeHacker Magazine's list of the top 5 best mobile personal finance tools in January 2011.
Unfortunately, the app will bring your bank accout down by $9.95. There is a free 30-day trail version if you want to test it out.
Loot: The Ultimate Free Budgeting App
If you're after a ledger app that is simple and free then look no further than Loot. It's not the "ultimate" budgeting tool out there but it is able to offer you all the basic features you need to manage you money.
Amongst the most basic of functionality, Loot allows you to import .qif files, add multiple accounts, create repeating transactions and search using tags.
This app is a bank account ledger. It does account transfers, multiple accounts, repeating transactions, simple budgeting, tag and party based searching, automatic transaction purging, and sorting.
Like EasyMoney, Loot does not access your bank account as all the data is manually entered by you. For some, this might not be ideal but if you're concerned about losing a phone that has access to you bank account then this is the app for you.
PageOnce Money and Bills
PageOnce takes a slightly different approach to money management than EasyMoney by connecting directly to your bank account. Some of you might not be so keen on letting your smartphone have unfettered access to you financial details but PageOnce does give you a range of features not found on other apps. The direct access features mean you can handle all your banking details from one, mobile location. This allows users to receive real-time alerts for forthcoming bills, card and bank transactions plus reminders...
PageOnce goes one step beyond the traditional budget app with a selection of other features including the ability to track frequent flyer miles, rewards, mobile minutes, text and data usage.
Just in case you have any concerns about Pageonce's ability to access your bank account; this app currently has over 4 million using it to handle their finances. That's a pretty good endorsement. At $12.99, you can rest assured that you are getting your moneys worth.
If you own a smartphone, the old days of painstakingly recording every transaction into a ledger are well and truly gone. If you live in the UK and you want more to find more ways to save money on goods like mobile phones then feel free to check out my site: http://voucherfrenzy.co.uk/
